1. Margaret Cusac Loy Poe: obituary, census records and notes (Daniel J Cusac, Andrew John)
“Mrs. Margaret Poe one of the oldest and much respected residents of Hancock County died early Friday morning at the residence of Martin Loy at McComb. The cause of death resulting from the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Poe was born in Perry County, Ohio, February 28, 1818, her maiden name being Cusac. She was married to George E. Loy, of Morrow County in 1840 and coming to Hancock in 1854, settling on the farm known as the Marshall farm two miles east of McComb. On the 20th of Mar 1856 her husband received injuries from a spike which caused his death. To this union were born two sons and three daughters.
On
June 29, 1859, she was married to Robert Poe who died in June 1870. To this
union were born two sons, Robert Poe and James Poe. She resided upon the farm in
Liberty township up to a short time ago, when she removed to McComb. Those
present at the bedside when the spirit fled were, her brother Isaac Cusac, her
sister, Mrs. M. E. Mulford, of Shawtown, her daughter, Mrs. S. E. Barnhill, of
Marion, Iowa, M. A. Loy, R. M. Poe, and Miss Loy of this place. One daughter
Mrs. M. E. Fluckey and one son, J. T. Poe having preceeded her to the better
world. The end came quietly and peacefully. She was a member of the Presbyterian
church, which she joined at the tender age of eleven years, remaining a faithful
member and increasing her faith in God up to the time of her death. She leaves
besides a host of friends, three brothers, Isaac, James and William Cusac; of
this place, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mulford, of Shawtown, and Mrs. Sarah Reed, of
Findlay, two sons, Martin Loy, and R. M Poe of McComb, two daughters Mrs. Sarah
Barnhill, of Marion Iowa, and Miss M. E. Loy, of this place. Twenty
grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, mourn her loss.
Funeral
services were held at the residence of Martin Loy last Sunday, Rev. Montogmery,
of Findlay, officiating. Interment at Indian Green Cemetery.”
“George
E. Loys Estate.- Notice is hereby given that the subscriber has been appointed
and qualified as administrator on the estate of George E. Loy, late of Hancock
county, deceased. Dated at Findlay, this 10th day of April, A.D., 1856. John
Cusac. April 12, 1856”
George E Loy is buried in row 10 Indian Green Cemetery, Liberty Twp, Hancock Co, OH. His tombstone has the following dates 1816 - 27 March 1856.
McComb,
March 15. -- (Special) -- Martin Loy, 69 years old, died from paralysis at 3
o'clock Thursday morning at the home of his son, C. F. Loy, in Liberty township,
after a long illness.
He
was born Sept. 8, 1847, in Morrow county, coming with his parents, George and
Marrguerite (Cusac) Loy, to Hancock county shortly after which he married Miss
Sarah Jane Fockler, who died three years ago. They lived in McComb for a long
time.
Mr. Loy was
a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. I of the 66th regiment, O. V.
I. He was a member of the John Howard Post, G. A. R., of McComb. He was also a
member of the McComb M. E. church.
The
following children survive; Oscar, of Weston; Frank, McComb; C. W. (Charles
William), Liberty township; Mrs. Tillman (Honora) Bond; Henderson, Mich.; Mrs.
Grover (Mary Olive) Williams, Leipsic; L. M. (Louis Martin), near McComb; M. J.
(Milan Jackson), South Whitley, Ind.; and Mrs. Oscar (Eva Laura) Schneider, of
McComb.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Blanchard
Presbyterian church with Rev. C. R. Davenport in charge. Burial will be in
Indian Green cemetery.”

“DEATH ENDS ILLNESS OF MORE THAN TWO MONTHS
Mrs. Martin A. Loy Dies at Her Home at
McComb – Eight Children Survive.
Mrs.
Martin A. Loy died at 8 o'clock at her home here after an illness of two months
of heart trouble. The funeral will be held at the Presbyterian church Sunday at
1 o'clock, and will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. J. Green, assisted by
Rev. W. L. Alexander. The body will be taken to the church at 12 o'clock, and as
many as desire may view it before the service begins.
Mrs.
Loy was born Jan. 15, 1851, in Beaver Dam, Allen county, her parents being
George and Dorothy Fockler. She was married to Matin A. Loy Jan. 20, 1870, and
had lived in or near McComb ever since. She was the mother of ten children, two
of whom preceded her in death. Those who survive are Oscar, of Weston; Frank and
William and Mrs. P. O. Schneider, of McComb; Lewis and Ollie Williams, of
Leipsic; Milan, of South Whitley, Ind., and Mrs. Noah (Honora) Bond, of
Henderson, Mich. Twenty-six grandchildren also survive, with the husband, two
sisters and a brother. She was a lifelong member of the M. E. church.
Burial
will be in Indian Green cemetery.”

5. Melissa Loy obituary, death, and census records (Margaret Cusac, Daniel J, Andrew John)
Miss
Melissa Loy, 72 years old, passed away at the home of her nephew, Frank Loy of
McComb, yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock from complication of diseases, which
she had been suffering with for several months.
A
neice, Mrs. Roy Moore of McComb, and a nephew, Frank Loy, also of McComb, are
the only survivors. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian
church.
Funeral
services will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. L. F.
Cooper, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial to be made in the Indian
Green cemetery.”
